MURPHY CREEK

Project Overview:
The Mile High Flood District (MHFD) and Aurora Water, in collaboration with Olsson as the civil designer and Naranjo Civil Constructors as the contractor, are undertaking essential channel improvements to Murphy Creek downstream of Orchard Road. This project aims to enhance flood resilience, improve water quality, and support the long-term stability of the stream corridor.
Key Project Features:
  • Stream Restoration & Stability – Reinforcement of the channel using soil lifts, riprap, and boulder grade control structures to reduce erosion and maintain stability.
  • Flood Protection – Enhancements to water flow and infrastructure to mitigate flooding risks in the area.
  • Environmental & Habitat Improvements – Native plantings, erosion control blankets, and soil preparation to enhance ecological health.
  • Trail & Access Improvements – Construction of maintenance trails and pedestrian access enhancements.
