On June 8th, Naranjo Civil was awarded the BizWest 2023 Innovation Quotient (IQ) Award for most innovative construction company in Northern Colorado and Boulder Valley. This is a culmination of decades of forward thinking and continually fostering a culture of innovation. Jerry Naranjo (Owner), Dylan Garcia (Technology Manager) and Cameron Stevens (CX Manager) accepted the award during BizWests’ annual ceremony in Berthoud, Colorado. Jerry spoke on behalf of the company, discussing technology as an integral part of Naranjo’s operations.
A key component of the 2022 innovations includes utilizing drone surveying technology to better serve operations. Naranjo’s GPS drones create 3D interactive and measurable maps using a process called photogrammetry. Photogrammetry works by capturing hundreds of overlapping photos and stitching them together to produce life-like orthomosaic maps, digital elevation models, digital surface models, 3D models and more. Once the data is processed, our team members and clients can measure stockpiles, calculate slopes, compare design files to real-site conditions, and prepare for storm events from a bird’s eye vantage point. Traditional survey methods can strain project budgets; by performing surveys in-house, Naranjo lessens the cost and time impacts.
The company flies active construction sites weekly and makes the images available to staff and customers through job-specific web pages. These web pages contain the general project description, construction schedules, engineered CAD file overlays, before/after sliders comparing jobsite changes with overhead drone imagery, an edited update video, and a collection of photographs to represent the work finished within the prior week.
Naranjo clients have responded with overwhelmingly positive feedback and have praised the technological innovation as a true game changer in the industry. |
